Feature Description:

  • You can add the mp3 file to process with open file dialog box. And you can select multiple files with it.
  • You can also add files by drag&drop. Multiple files could be drag in at the same time
  • Decode(Convert) mp3 files in batch
  • Progress bar display to show the decoding progress for each file
  • Text status display to show which file is converting
  • Grid box to display the list of the files you want to convert. You can remove any file or clear all in that in the grid box. Very convenient.
  • The deocded file will be created at the same directory as the input file, the first half of the filename will be kept the same and with “.wav” as the extension
  • The result filename will be displayed next to the input filename

Free mp3 player

Free mp3 player is a simple light weight player to play mp3 files. Besides mp3 files, it could also play other audio files: wav, wma, etc. And even able to play the sound stream in a video file.

It is based on the direct show component built in windows, so as long as you have the decoding filter installed, it can play all the audio files/streams and any audio stream in the video file, there is no limitation. For example:
it can play audio stream in avi files
it can play audio stream in mp4 files, etc.

play with directshow graph editor

Directshow has a built in graph editor with it to play with the directshow graph.
With it, you can see what the graph looks like in other direct show apps
Or you can build one graph of you own, for example: create your own playback graph for audio/video files or some graph to capture audio/video files.

how to use:
you should have windows sdk installed, once installed, run “graphedt” from the console window.

Here is a graph I build to record pcm audio from microphone and write to a file: test.avi on my hard drive.

Most of the existing filters are decoding oriented, if your work is encoding, not much choices there, you need to find your own encoders, or even give up doing it through direct show. For example, the mp3 encoder is not well supported, and even it is supported, the quality is at 22.05khz 56kbps, not a good quality for music. If you need to encode mp3 at 44.1khz 128kbps,you can use this free mp3 recorder

This is an update to the Free Mp3 Recorder 1.0.

The change in this version are: add the device (sound card) selector and a button to launch recording source dialog to select to record from microphone, mixer or other input.

Free Mp3 Recorder is a free software (freeware) to record music or any other audio from your pc.
